Which product for which job?
| Job | Product | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Catch hops, fruit pieces, gasket fragments or debris before a pump | 1.5 in TC inline strainer, straight or L-type | Screen mesh is confirmed on the order. 2 in on request. |
| Cartridge filtration on one line with tri-clamp ends | 4.5 in jumbo housing with 50.5, 64 or 77.5 mm ferrules | Body in SUS304 (stock) or SUS316 (made to order). It is a general-purpose housing with TC ends, not a 316L sanitary design. |
| Higher flow, several cartridges, sanitary design | 316L sanitary multi-cartridge housing, 3, 5 or 7 × 20 in | Made to order. TC size, surface finish and pressure rating are confirmed by email before production. |
| Spare seals for 1.5 in clamp joints | Silicone TC gasket, 50.5 mm | Single or 10-pack. Ask for 64 mm or 77.5 mm. |
Ferrule sizes
- 50.5 mm OD ferrule = 1.5 in TC hardware
- 64 mm OD ferrule = 2 in TC hardware
- 77.5 mm OD ferrule = 2.5 in TC hardware
Measure the ferrule outside diameter, not the pipe, to choose the right clamp and gasket. Ferrule OD is the hardware size, not the bore. Clamps and gaskets of different sizes are not interchangeable.
Is it right for my brewery or beverage line?
We cannot say a filter suits a beer, cider, wine, juice or kombucha line without knowing the conditions. For a stage-by-stage guide see brewery filter housings for beer and kombucha. Before you order, check or send us:
- What is being filtered (wort, finished beer, kombucha, juice, rinse water) and at which stage.
- Flow rate, and the solids you want to remove (hops, yeast, fruit, sediment) with the micron level you are aiming for.
- Temperature while filtering and while cleaning.
- Cleaning and sanitising chemicals, their strength and contact time. These also decide the gasket material and whether 304 is enough (see 304 vs 316 stainless steel).
- Whether your site requires a sanitary design, a specific surface finish or material certificates.
Fine filtration of unfiltered beer or kombucha can block a cartridge quickly. How long a filter lasts depends on the solids load, the micron rating, the filter area and whether a coarser strainer or pre-filter is used first, so we do not promise a filter will not block. A strainer upstream of a cartridge housing is a common way to extend cartridge life.
Material
Sanitary multi-cartridge housings are made in SUS316L, the low-carbon grade preferred for welded sanitary equipment. Silicone gaskets are sold separately in single and 10-packs.
