When do you need a jumbo housing?

A 4.5 in jumbo cartridge is much wider than a standard 2.5 in cartridge, so at the same length it has more filter area and room for more dirt. That means higher flow and longer intervals between changes. Jumbo housings are used for whole house filtration on well water, irrigation, light commercial and process water lines.

Stainless steel vs plastic jumbo housings

Plastic jumbo housings are common for cold mains water. A stainless steel jumbo housing is chosen for warm water, outdoor or UV exposure, and process duties where the housing is cleaned and reused. For hot liquids or high pressure, send us your temperature and pressure and we will confirm before you order.

Choosing the ports

  • 1, 1.5 or 2 in NPT for the United States.
  • 1, 1.5 or 2 in G (BSPP) parallel thread for the UK, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
  • Tri-clamp ferrules (50.5, 64 or 77.5 mm OD) for sanitary pipework. The clamp lid is separate from the tri-clamp ports.

Replacement jumbo head gaskets and reusable 4.5 in stainless steel mesh cartridges are sold separately.
